#007 – 2nd June – Moving to Tintagel

9.32am – After a quiet day yesterday, spent mostly inside the caravan to avoid heavy rain, we’re moving on again today. This time we’re going to travel into Cornwall (at last) to our third campsite of this trip, near Tintagel on the North Cornish coast. The site is Trewetthet Farm and is famous for its elevated position overlooking the sea.

At the moment we’re just getting showered, dressed and breakfasted and hope to depart around 11am. The journey today is around 90 miles, so nothing too far, and mostly dual carriageway on the M5 and A30.

1.44pm – Just arrived at Trewetthet Caravan Site. We had a very straightforward journey down here and the campsite’s arrival instructions were spot-on. I’m sitting in the car at Reception whilst Helen has gone in to announce our arrival.

A fantastic view from our front window!

3.05pm – We’re all set-up on a sea-facing pitch, which will have a fabulous view – if it stops raining! It’s very exposed and windy here, and it’s noticeable that there are no awnings up anywhere today. In fact, we were advised on arrival to wait for a couple of days by which the winds should have dropped. This is the fifth campsite we’ve stayed at since getting this new caravan and we’ve still to get our awning up!!

7.10pm – We’ve come into Tintagel to a pub called King Arthur’s Arms (no mention of his other bits), and we’re going to have a meal here. The menu looks really good – very hearty fare.

The King Arthur’s Arms in Tintagel serves good food.
The Old Post Office in Tintagel dates back to the 14th century! Who said snail-mail was slow?
