9.50am – As I lay awake in bed this morning, prior to getting up and opening all the window blinds, I was aware that something was missing. Since arriving here three days ago the caravan has constantly been buffeted by 40+mph winds. Finally, today there is only a gentle breeze, the sun is shining down from a largely clear sky, and the sea looks a gorgeous azure-blue colour! Hooray!

So the plan for today is to visit Tintagel Castle which is about two miles away. Hopefully, King Arthur might be in residence at the moment and will be willing to pose for selfies with us. If not, I’m still hoping to get lots of nice pictures at what is a sure to be a very picturesque location. Fingers crossed.

11.55am – Wow! The castle is quite stunning. Hopefully these images might convey some of that to you. We’re so glad that the weather is sufficiently improved today that we’ve been able to come here.

3.26pm – Although it might be hard to believe from the blue skies in the images above, as soon as we climbed back up the hill into Tintagel village from the castle, the heavens opened and there was a torrential downpour which lasted a good twenty minutes or so. We sheltered in a cafe and decided to have lunch there whilst watching poor, bedraggled people coming back from the castle after us who’d been completely caught in the open with no possible shelter during the downpour.
The castle itself is amazing and very well worth a visit. Although there isn’t very much ‘castle’ remaining, it’s a spectacular site with great views of the surrounding area. There are the remains of many properties around the site and plenty information boards have been provided to explain some of the history of the castle and its inhabitants.
