#017 – 13 Jun – Hot and Sunny at Land’s End

12.40pm – Hooray! At long last the weather is sufficiently good that I’m able to wear shorts today and so far no-one has run away screaming at the sight of my white legs!

I’m currently at the fantastic Buryan Farmshop again, this time with Clare and Gareth. They need to stock-up with food for their self-catering accommodation because they’re here after we’ve moved-on to our next campsite at Looe, and without a car of their own this is too good an opportunity to miss.

The sun is beating down, there is absolutely no wind and there are skylarks twittering above me. This is what holidays should be like!

1.40pm – I’m back at the caravan site now where Helen is sunbathing on her lounger and reading her book. It’s nice to see her relaxing for a while rather than always dashing about doing jobs etc.

Like many other people onsite today we wanted to take advantage of the good weather and do some laundry. Unfortunately, shortly after Helen started the washing machine with our clothes in it, the campsite suffered a power cut, which has been going on for a couple of hours now. However, it does mean that we have to just sit/lie still and sunbathe until we can get the washing finished. Not all bad then!

8.55pm – Clare, Gareth, Helen and I have just been to St Just for a meal at the King’s Arms pub. The seafood linguine was absolutely delicious! As it is still a glorious evening we decided to drive to Land’s End and arrived just as the sun was getting ready to set. It was well worth coming!

Here we are! I think I’ve caught too much sun today!
A very atmospheric image from Helen

Anyone who knows me will know I’m a very keen birder. Since coming to Cornwall I’ve been hoping to see a Chough (which is a fairly rare member of the corvid (crow) family, but with very distinctive red legs and beak). Well, our luck was in this evening as you can see in the image below.

A right pair of Choughs!
Btw – these images were taken at around 9.30pm!
A beautiful sunset at the end of the land.
