9.53am – Today we’re going to Falmouth to visit the Sea Shanty Festival. We’ve heard that the town is difficult to park in given the number of people who visit the festival so our intention is to drive as far as Penryn and catch a train from there. Fingers crossed that all works out. It’s another sunny day, but there’s a strong wind blowing at the moment.
12.29pm – We’ve arrived in Falmouth – and it’s absolutely heaving with people here for the festival! We changed our plan slightly by driving to Falmouth University on the outskirts of the town and catching the bus into the centre. It couldn’t have been easier. We’ve come into The Pier Restaurant on the harbour with Clare and Gareth for something to eat before exploring the Festival. There’s no wind here and the weather is perfect.

6.53pm – We’re back at the caravan now where Helen and Clare are enjoying a take-away cream tea they brought back from Falmouth.
After enjoying the walk along the waterfront in Falmouth and listening to some of the singing, Helen and I decided to get on a ferry across the Fal estuary to St Mawes which was about a twenty minute crossing. Once there we walked to a pub called The Rising Sun and enjoyed a leisurely cup of coffee before returning to Falmouth again. It was a really enjoyable crossing in the lovely sunshine and made the day even more special. St Mawes looks to be a very classy place for people who have lots of money!
